Self Care for Empaths With Maria Pascucci

In our Western culture, overachieving at the expense of self-care is glorified. A powerful businesswoman recently featured in a national women’s magazine was quoted as saying, “The secret to my success is Starbucks coffee. I think if you’re willing to sacrifice some sleep you can do anything you’ve always wanted whether it’s writing a book or running a marathon.” A former NFL star turned motivational speaker said in a YouTube video that, “You gotta want to be successful so bad that you forget to eat.”
But if you’re an empath or a highly sensitive person, you most likely can’t push yourself like other people do. When you skimp on sleep, skip meals, eat processed foods and neglect self-care to plow forward in your career or business, you shut down or get sick much faster than non-sensitive people.
…And thank God for that!
Here’s why: If you tune into your highly sensitive body for as little as 10 minutes per day, you get to create more energy in the present moment to manifest success. You also get to prevent serious chronic disease that all-too-often distracts you from fulfilling your Spirit’s highest calling on this Earth.
As a sensitive soul, you have a unique opportunity to connect with your gloriously intuitive body and honor its messages instead of fighting it every step of the way.
I speak from experience. I have Endometriosis, a chronic women’s health disease where hormonal imbalances are a contributing factor. When I was 13 years old, puberty and the resulting hormonal changes caused me to break out with acne all over my face, arms, chest and back. “Friends” called me zit face. I began believing that I wasn’t worthy of love and belonging unless I looked perfect. So I took antibiotics for twelve years to bury my blemishes and disconnected from my intuition.
Once I began to embrace my sensitivity in my twenties, I realized that chronic acne and other health issues were simply my highly sensitive body’s brilliant way of communicating to me that something was out of balance. Guided by my body’s wisdom, I ditched the antibiotics, took charge over my health and changed my diet. I created the energy to lead as, what empath and sensitive coach Dr. Michael Smith calls, an “empowered empath”. I also partnered with holistic health doctors who were the right fit for me; together, we rebalanced my hormones, reversed my Endometriosis and cleared up my skin. Once I created the inner foundation to support success, it became a whole lot easier to generate it in my life and business!
How would your journey to becoming an empowered empath be different if you connected with your highly sensitive body and honored its messages?
Here’s one way to get started:
Close your eyes and take a deep breath in…and out. Feel yourself held in a beautiful pinkish circle of light. Place your hand over your heart and open yourself up to receive the Divine love that has always been within you. Ask yourself:
When I’m connected to my heart’s intuitive wisdom, what foods do I really crave?
Do these foods deplete and malnourish you? Or are they cleansing high vibrational foods that restore your energy, honor your divinity and nourish your sensitive body, mind and spirit?
Here are some examples of high vibrational foods:
•All fresh, ripe fruit and vegetables (local, organic and in season is ideal)
•Whole, organic grains
•Organic beans, lentils and legumes
•Nuts and seeds
•Free range eggs and wild caught fish
•Healthy oils, like olive oil and coconut oil
•Purified water or spring water from the source
•Himalayan Salt, Celtic Sea Salt, or other mineralized salts
Benefits to eating high-vibrational foods include:
•Healthy, glowing skin and a more youthful appearance
•Enhanced immune system protection from energy that drains you
•More freedom from the effects of overwhelm and chronic stress that holds you back from generating success as a sensitive soul*
•Positive, free flowing energy channels
•Heightened clarity and decision making
•Effortless weight release
•…And so much more!
*Deficiencies in certain vitamins and minerals can actually create anxiety and stress, which further depletes your highly sensitive immune system. That may sound like doom and gloom, but the good news is if a deficiency in a vitamin can cause the entire body to stop functioning optimally, correcting that deficiency can lead to the whole body beginning to heal on its own. That’s the power of holistic nutrition!)
It’s not about counting calories, points or fat grams. This is about trusting yourself to choose the high vibrational foods that delight your taste buds, satisfy your hunger, flood your body with nutrients and empower you to transform your sensitivity in the greatest asset you’ve ever had!
